Terrible Toybox has announced Thimbleweed Park 2, a follow-up to the 2017 title that paid homage to classic LucasArts point-and-click adventures. The original game was co-created by Gary Winnick and Ron Gilbert, who previously worked on Maniac Mansion and also created the Monkey Island series.
Thimbleweed Park 2 will once again feature Agents Ray and Reyes as they investigate a murder mystery at the Edmund Mansion. The game's Steam page describes the title as "more Thimbleweed Park and just as weird," indicating a similar tone to its predecessor. Players will need to question the mansion's eccentric inhabitants, as each is a suspect in the crime.
Characters returning from the first game include Delores and Franklin Edmund, as well as Ransome the Clown. A trailer for Thimbleweed Park 2 has not yet been released. The game is slated for a 2028 launch.
The original Thimbleweed Park was released on March 30, 2017, after a successful Kickstarter campaign. It received positive reviews, with former Game Informer editor Elise Favis awarding it an 8.5 out of 10. Favis praised the game's humor and puzzle design, noting that while some narrative twists did not fully land, the overall experience was enjoyable due to its characters and puzzles.
