The Elder Scrolls 6 remains one of the most anticipated games in development, and studio director Todd Howard has stated that the team at Bethesda Game Studios recognizes the significant pressure to deliver a polished experience. He confirmed that the majority of developers are currently focused on The Elder Scrolls 6.

"We know we need to get it right and it's been a long time," Howard told Entertainment Weekly. The game was first revealed over eight years ago, with only a title card and a brief video shared since then. It was notably absent from the recent Xbox Games Showcase in June. Xbox's Head of Content, Matt Booty, explained that Microsoft opted to wait for the opportune moment to present the game, emphasizing the desire to showcase it when it represents the studio's best work and signals its imminent release.

Howard has privately questioned the decision to announce The Elder Scrolls 6 so far in advance. "I have asked myself that a lot," he admitted when asked about the timing. He suggested that a more understated announcement might have been preferable, stating that the way it was revealed "was not my preference." He even humorously advised treating the announcement as if it never happened, quipping, "Just pretend we didn’t announce it. It doesn’t exist. No one has heard a word."
