Trigger Happy Interactive's first-person horror title, Total Chaos, is set to receive a new "Retro Mode" update, publisher Apogee Entertainment announced. The update will introduce a distinct low-poly, pixelated visual style and a new ending inspired by the game's origins as a Doom II total conversion mod.
Total Chaos, released last year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and later on Nintendo Switch 2, was praised for its blend of first-person combat, an expanding crafting system, and environmental puzzle-solving within a desolate mining town plagued by a mysterious disease. The game has already seen post-launch support, including a New Game+ update earlier this year that added a new finale.
The upcoming Retro Mode aims to evoke a classic aesthetic reminiscent of early first-person shooters. Details on the release date for the Retro Mode update have not yet been provided, but Apogee Entertainment stated it is "coming soon."
