Creative Assembly has announced a comprehensive remaster of Total War: Shogun 2, set to launch on October 13. This Complete Edition bundles all three of the game's campaigns—Shogun 2, Rise of the Samurai, and Fall of the Samurai—along with all previously released faction DLC. The remaster promises a suite of improvements designed to bring the 2011 title up to modern standards.
Key enhancements include full Japanese and Chinese voice and text localization, improved visuals, lighting, and shadows. The user interface will support 1440p and 4K scaling, and controls have been modernized. A significant addition is the inclusion of over 50 newly playable minor factions, alongside integrated Mod.io support, a 64-bit upgrade, ultrawide monitor support, and colorblind accessibility options.
Players who already own Total War: Shogun 2 will receive legacy DLC from the original game at no additional cost. They will also be eligible for a 75% time-limited loyalty discount on the new Complete Edition. This ensures existing fans are acknowledged while encouraging new players to experience the remastered title.
Total War: Shogun 2 is widely regarded as one of the strongest entries in the long-running strategy series, with its Fall of the Samurai expansion often highlighted. The remaster aims to address some of the game's dated elements, particularly its control scheme, while offering a wealth of content, including expanded multiplayer possibilities such as the drop-in campaign invasions and the Avatar Conquest mode.
