Toys for Bob, currently developing the next Spyro the Dragon game, has expressed significant enthusiasm for creating a new installment in the Banjo-Kazooie series should Xbox, the current owner of the franchise, present the opportunity. The studio, known for its work on Crash Bandicoot 4 and the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, has a clear affinity for the iconic N64 platformer.

In a recent interview, studio head Paul Yan and associate creative director Lou Studdert confirmed that discussions about Banjo-Kazooie are frequent within the studio. "How frequently, you mean," Yan responded with a laugh when asked about internal conversations regarding the franchise, indicating a deep appreciation among the staff for Banjo and his friends. Studdert echoed this sentiment, calling Banjo-Kazooie "the top of the heap" for platformer fans and noting that many on their team are "huge, huge fans of that franchise."

Studdert stated that "if the opportunity ever arose, that’d be amazing," and Yan suggested that Banjo-Kazooie aligns well with the types of games Toys for Bob excels at making. He described the characters and their world as "timeless" and "iconic," resonating with the studio's passion for creating beloved platforming experiences. Yan further elaborated on the enduring appeal of the Banjo games, calling them "wonderful."

Before any potential Banjo-Kazooie project could materialize, Toys for Bob is focused on completing Spyro: A Realm Reborn. This project was announced earlier this year and became possible for the studio after its transition away from Call of Duty development in 2024. The team's proven track record with 3D platformer revivals positions them as a strong candidate for future revival projects within Xbox's expansive portfolio.
