The anime adaptation of Disney's mobile game Twisted Wonderland is set to return for its second season this December, streaming exclusively on Disney Plus. This upcoming season will prominently feature the Savanaclaw dorm, which draws its theme from The Lion King's Scar.
Twisted Wonderland reimagines classic Disney villains and characters as stylish anime boys. The game is set at Night Raven College, where each of the school's dorms is inspired by a different Disney villain. Notably, the series' character designs and script were heavily influenced by Yana Toboso, the creator of Black Butler.
The first season of the anime, which debuted last year, consisted of eight episodes and centered on the Heartslabyul Dorm, based on the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland. The anime is planned for a total of three seasons, and the game also has an ongoing manga adaptation.
For the second season, Takahiro Natori will return as director and series composer, with Shin Kataga co-directing. Yoichi Kato is the main writer, and Haruka Nakana and Akane Sato are adapting Toboso’s character designs. The animation will once again be handled by Yumeta Company and Graphinica.
The narrative follows Yuuken Enma, a protagonist summoned to another world via a magic mirror. While searching for a way home, he interacts with the top students at Night Raven College. The mobile game upon which the anime is based has achieved significant commercial success, grossing over $715 million worldwide since its 2020 launch and surpassing six million downloads globally.
