Games Workshop has announced a sequel to the popular Warhammer 40,000 novel, 'The Infinite and the Divine.' The new book, titled 'The Wicked and the Warped,' will once again be penned by author Robert Rath and will see the return of the central Necron characters, Orikan the Diviner and Trazyn the Infinite.
'The Infinite and the Divine,' first published to critical acclaim, focused on the centuries-long feud between the two immortal Necron robots. Their rivalry, sparked by a dispute over an artifact, escalated to encompass galactic conflicts, including clashes with Exodite armies and alien uprisings. The novel was noted for its unique blend of dark science fiction and humor, drawing comparisons to 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' for its absurd portrayal of the ancient robots' petty grievances.
The upcoming sequel, 'The Wicked and the Warped,' is set to place Orikan and Trazyn in a scenario where they must cooperate. The narrative will involve the two rivals investigating the disappearance of an expedition on a planet afflicted by Chaos corruption. This premise mirrors the common Warhammer 40,000 trope of forcing unlikely alliances through the intervention of Chaos forces, as seen in the 'Dawn of War' video game series.
Details regarding the release date for 'The Wicked and the Warped' have not yet been disclosed. In the interim, 'The Infinite and the Divine' is being reprinted in hardback. The audiobook version, narrated by Richard Reed, has also reportedly received positive feedback.
