A specific unit within the U.S. Army is employing a novel incentive to encourage soldiers to re-enlist: a four-day pass to play Grand Theft Auto VI. The program is being offered by the 9th Brigade Engineering Battalion at Fort Stewart in Georgia, with the pass timed to coincide with the game's November launch.
This unique recruitment perk connects directly to the interests of soldiers, according to Lieutenant Colonel Angel Tomko, an Army spokesperson. The goal of the command team and career counselors was to create an exciting re-enlistment opportunity. So far, approximately 20 soldiers within the unit have accepted the offer in exchange for signing a new contract.
The terms of the incentive require soldiers to re-enlist for a minimum of two years. Around 130 soldiers in the 9th Brigade Engineering Battalion are eligible for this offer. Grand Theft Auto VI is slated for release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game is widely considered one of the most anticipated entertainment releases in history and is projected to achieve massive sales figures, with some reports suggesting preorder revenue could cover its entire development costs.
