Popular streamer Valkyrae has spoken about the widely publicized incident where musician Steve Lacy inadvertently spoiled major plot details from Spider-Man: Brand New Day during a live red carpet interview.

During the premiere of the film, Lacy, whose song is featured in the movie, revealed that Sadie Sink, known for her role in Stranger Things, plays Jean Grey and serves as the film's primary antagonist. This character's involvement and role had been a closely guarded secret by Marvel, with Sink herself reportedly restricted from discussing the specifics of her character during promotional activities.

Valkyrae, who was interviewing Lacy at the event, recounted her immediate reaction to the spoiler, describing her face as showing evident discomfort. She attempted to steer Lacy away from revealing further details, hoping he might retract or downplay the information. "I tried to give him an out," Valkyrae explained, "because I knew it was a theory, so I was like ‘Oh, is that a spoiler?’ Like, I thought he was gonna be like ‘Oh, just kidding. I saw the theories,’ or ‘I guess we’ll have to find out.’ I thought he was going to say something to play it off, and then bro doubles down on another spoiler."

The moment quickly gained widespread attention, becoming a "gigaviral" event. Valkyrae expressed her sympathy for the fans who were trying to avoid spoilers ahead of the movie's release. "I felt really bad for the real Spider-Man fans," she stated. "Some people were really, really upset, and I think that’s valid. No one likes spoilers or even the possibility of one."

Valkyrae managed to politely conclude the interview, acknowledging that the spoiled information was likely to reach many fans. She noted that Lacy likely had prior knowledge of the plot details, having had his music included in the film. Despite her efforts to mitigate the situation during the live segment, the spoilers were ultimately shared widely.
