Valve has officially announced the pricing and initial shipping details for its long-awaited Steam Machine, a console-like PC designed for living room gaming. The company confirmed that the device will be available in four distinct configurations, with shipping expected to commence shortly after June 29th.
Steam Machine Configurations and Pricing
The Steam Machine will be offered in two main storage tiers: 512GB and 2TB. Each tier will also be available as a standalone unit or as a bundle that includes the Steam Controller. The pricing for these configurations is as follows:
- Steam Machine 512GB: £879 / $1,049 / €1,039 / CAD $1,509 / AUD $1,609 / PLN 4,389
- Steam Machine 512GB + Steam Controller bundle: £938 / $1,128 / €1,108 / CAD $1,628 / AUD $1,728 / PLN 4,698
- Steam Machine 2TB: £1,149 / $1,349 / €1,359 / CAD $1,919 / AUD $2,109 / PLN 5,739
- Steam Machine 2TB + Steam Controller bundle: £1,208 / $1,428 / €1,428 / CAD $2,038 / AUD $2,228 / PLN 6,048
Customers purchasing the 2TB models will also receive two additional faceplates: one in red fabric and another in solid walnut.
Reservation and Shipping Process
Valve is implementing a reservation system for pre-orders, similar to that used for the Steam Controller. Those interested can sign up for a reservation between now and Thursday, June 25th. The sign-up window closes at 6 PM BST (7 PM CET, 10 AM PT, 1 PM ET). To be eligible for the initial batch, users must have a Steam account in good standing and have made at least one purchase on Steam prior to April 27th, 2026.
To manage store load, the order of reservations for this first batch will be randomized. Valve is also enforcing a limit of one unit per household, restricting orders to a single unit per payment method and shipping address. On June 25th, customers will receive an email confirming their place in the queue. Some users may be placed on a waitlist if they sign up after the initial batch closes. Valve plans to begin sending out order confirmation emails on June 29th, with shipping to follow as orders are completed. While a specific launch date has not been set, this staggered rollout will begin at the end of this month.
Development Context
The initial plan was to release the Steam Machine, Steam Link, and Steam Controller in the first quarter of 2026. Valve later revised this timeline to the first half of the year, citing significant increases in memory and storage costs that necessitated price adjustments. Speaking to Eurogamer, Valve indicated that the final Steam Machine price is considerably higher than initially envisioned. The company also explained its decision not to subsidize the hardware by selling it at a loss, a common practice for traditional console manufacturers.
