Wardogs, a newly released first-person shooter, has achieved over one million sales on Steam during its early access launch day. The game is rapidly ascending Steam's charts, currently ranking as the fourth most-played title on the platform, trailing only Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and PUBG: Battlegrounds. At its peak, Wardogs has surpassed 250,000 concurrent players.

Developer Bulkhead and publisher Team 17 announced that Wardogs had amassed over one million wishlists prior to its launch. This significant interest has now translated into strong sales figures, with the number of copies sold exceeding the total number of wishlists. This player count also surpasses the record set during a brief open beta phase last weekend, which reached just over 245,000 players. The game is also slated for release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox in 2028, as revealed in its launch trailer.

Wardogs positions itself within the FPS genre with a focus on tactical gameplay. It aims for a balance between the accessibility of titles like Call of Duty and the high realism of games such as Escape From Tarkov or Squad. The core game mode, King of the Hill, features 100 players divided into three teams competing for control of a dynamic zone.

Joe Brammer, CEO at Bulkhead, expressed his astonishment at the sales figures, especially given the team's efforts to manage player expectations before launch. He emphasized that the game remains in early access, with ongoing plans for fixes, improvements, and new content. Brammer encouraged players to continue engaging with the game and providing feedback to help shape its development.
