King Art Games has unveiled the CGI cinematic trailer for the Necron faction in Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV. This marks the third of four in-game narrative trailers planned for the upcoming real-time strategy title.
The trailer introduces the Necron Chronomancer Thothmek, who details his intent to reclaim the world of Kronus. The Necrons are depicted as an ancient force, having occupied Kronus long before the arrival of other factions like the Space Marines, Orks, and Adeptus Mechanicus.
Following trailers for the Orks and Adeptus Mechanicus, this Necron-focused cinematic is seen as an improvement over the latter, which was criticized for depicting the Necrons as inaccurate in combat. The new trailer emphasizes the imposing and dreadful presence of the Necrons, highlighting their alien technology and the solemn atmosphere as they prepare for war, focusing on "vibes" and a sense of weight.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV is set to launch on PC on September 17, 2026, with four playable factions at release: Space Marines, Adeptus Mechanicus, Necrons, and Orks. The final anticipated trailer will feature the Space Marines, a faction with a history of iconic CGI trailers within the Dawn of War series.
