Fans of the expansive Warrior Cats novel series have significant adaptations to look forward to, including the franchise's first original video game, Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest, and an upcoming animated series.
Trailmark Games and the Coolabi Group revealed a trailer for Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest, a turn-based RPG where players will create their own protagonist. The game will allow players to choose from four distinct clans, each offering a unique narrative path. Player choices and the relationships they forge will influence the unfolding plot. The game is slated for release this fall.
Clans of the Forest is set to feature familiar characters from the novels, alongside new ones, and will allow players to explore iconic locations such as the Moonpool and the Island. These settings suggest the game takes place in the lake territories, likely following the events of the 2005 book Dawn.
In addition to the video game, an animated Warrior Cats series was announced in 2024 as a collaboration with Tencent Video. Disney has since picked up the series for distribution on Disney Plus and Disney Channel, with a planned release in 2028.
The Warrior Cats series was originally created by Victoria Holmes for HarperCollins. The initial books were written by Kate Cary and Cherith Baldry under the pseudonym Erin Hunter, with the writing team expanding over time. The series has grown to include over fifty mainline books, with more still in development.
