The latest installment of "What We've Been Playing" features a diverse set of experiences from the Eurogamer team. Bertie returns to Assassin's Creed Odyssey on PS5, Kelsey explores bird-watching with Flock Around on PC and revisits Pokémon GO on mobile, while Connor's early impressions of the Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls beta on PS5 were cut short by PlayStation Network outages.

Bertie found Assassin's Creed Odyssey, despite its 2018 release, to be showing its age. Character models were described as "like old plastic toys," and the game's interface, while keeping players on a forward momentum, constantly bombards the user with prompts. He appreciated the design of Kassandra, the female playable character, noting her realistic portrayal as a soldier with visible musculature, a representation he feels is still uncommon.

In contrast, Kelsey described Flock Around as an "adorable, simplistic" co-op game focused on bird-watching. Players use cameras and binoculars to photograph various American birds across different biomes. The game's appeal lies in its charming presentation and the dopamine rush of capturing high-quality photos, including rare shiny variants. Kelsey also reported a return to Pokémon GO, spurred by the GO Fest 2026 event, where she acquired several shiny Pokémon.

Connor's experience with the Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls beta was brief but positive, lasting only about 30 minutes before PlayStation Network went offline. He managed to try out several characters in training mode, finding Magik particularly engaging due to her teleportation abilities and balanced ranged and melee attacks. The subsequent PSN outage left him with unexpected free time, leading to contemplation of reading or other self-improvement activities.
