Koei Tecmo has announced that the upcoming sequel, Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember, is set to release on March 4, 2027. Alongside this release date announcement, an alpha demo for the game is now available for players to try.
The alpha demo, accessible via Steam, will be available from September 16th until September 30th. According to a PlayStation Blog post, this demo allows players to experience a portion of the Changban stage. Players will engage in combat utilizing Chinese martial arts that blend offense and defense, navigate the Three Kingdoms battlefield overrun by demons, and face off against legendary historical figures.
Changban is one of the significant battles from China's Three Kingdoms period, which will be featured in the full game. The game incorporates demons and creatures inspired by Chinese mythology and literature, adding another layer of challenge to the historical setting known for plagues, famines, and civil war.
The demo also provides a look at the game's character creation system and co-op multiplayer functionality. Players who complete the demo and defeat a boss named Wuzhiqi will receive a Fledgling Phoenix Helmet that will carry over to the full game. System requirements for the demo, including a notable 95 GB storage requirement, can be found on Steam.
