Marvel is set to continue its exploration of Wolverine's enigmatic past with the upcoming comic series, Wolverine: Origin III - The Dark Age. This new chapter brings back original Origin writer Paul Jenkins, who is joined by artist CAFU. The series aims to delve further into Logan's history, following previous installments that revealed his true name as James Howlett and detailed the tragic events that shaped him into the solitary figure known today.

Wolverine: Origin III - The Dark Age is set after World War II, a significant jump from the late 19th-century Canadian setting of the original Origin and the early 20th century of Origin II. The narrative will find Logan seeking peace after years of conflict. According to Marvel's official description, Logan will experience a new life of tranquility and service, encountering new allies and, with the help of a young doctor, discovering the source of his newfound happiness. However, the description also poses the question of how long this peace can last.

Paul Jenkins stated that the original Wolverine: Origin was foundational, not only detailing how James Howlett became Wolverine but also depicting his loss of innocence and understanding of a harsh world. He expressed his privilege in telling this story, which he has waited over 25 years to share, hinting that the answers about Logan's whereabouts and the events leading to Weapon X will be unexpected. The series features main cover art by Wes Burt and a variant cover by Josemaria Casanovas.

Wolverine: Origin III - The Dark Age is scheduled to be released on December 16. Readers can pre-order copies at their local comic shops.
