Xbox is launching limited-edition controllers to commemorate the fictional Emergence Day in the Gears of War universe, a pivotal and somber event marking the Locusts' initial assault on humanity. These controllers, inspired by the game's lore, symbols, and battles, are set for release alongside Gears of War: E-Day.
Fans can pre-order the standard limited-edition Gears of War: E-Day controller for $89.99. This design incorporates elements reminiscent of the "E-holes" that scar the world in the game, featuring 3D-molded, laser-etched details of cracked asphalt with glowing red fissures and the Crimson Omen emblem. The controller is described as being inspired by the "horror and brutality unleashed on Emergence Day."
Additionally, starting September 30, players will have the option to design their own custom controllers through Xbox Design Lab, featuring artwork by heavy metal illustrator Luke Preece. These custom designs will prominently display a skull atop crossed Lancers, iconic weapons from the Gears series. To complement the controller releases, Xbox is also collaborating with 8BitDO on a Gears of War: E-Day charging dock.
Gears of War: E-Day is scheduled to launch on October 6 for Xbox Series X and Windows PC. This upcoming installment revisits the early days of the conflict between humanity and the Locust Horde.
