Nintendo's limited edition The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 console has sold out rapidly, with preorders disappearing within hours of becoming available. Following the swift sell-out, scalpers have already begun listing the consoles on eBay for significantly inflated prices, with some seeking close to £700 for the hardware.
The special edition console features a distinctive Link-green color scheme for the Joy-Cons and a Triforce-inspired triangular pattern. Alongside the console, a similarly styled Switch 2 Pro Controller and carry case were also announced.
Retailers initially offered the Zelda-themed Switch 2 for approximately £435, a slight increase from the standard Switch 2 model. The demand outstripped supply almost immediately. As of this reporting, Nintendo has not made the special edition console available for preorder through its official store, nor has it provided information regarding restocks before the planned launch.
Resale listings on eBay show the console appearing at prices ranging from approximately $700 to $985 USD, which translates to roughly £520 to £730. Some of these inflated listings have included bundles with the upcoming Ocarina of Time remake, despite Nintendo not offering such a package.
The Zelda-themed Switch 2 is slated for release on October 29, with the Ocarina of Time remake set to launch a week later on November 5.
