Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced features a quest called Mayan Mysteries, which requires players to locate and interact with 16 Mayan Stelae scattered across the Caribbean. Successfully completing this challenge rewards players with the legendary Mayan Outfit and the Yax Tun Pendant.

Upon finding a Mayan Stelae, players must climb atop the monolith and use the synchronize command to initiate a mini-puzzle. The objective of this puzzle is to rotate and scale glowing outlines to match the shapes of nearby objects on the ground, such as rocks or debris. In addition to the stelae, several of these locations also contain Treasure Maps that lead to buried chests.

Mayan Stelae in the Northern Caribbean

The northern region of the map contains seven Mayan Stelae. The first is encountered during the main story in Sequence 04: This Old Cove, located in the forests of Great Inagua. James Kidd guides Edward Kenway to this pillar, which is part of the initial introduction to the Mayan Stones.

Later in the campaign, during Sequence 04: Overrun and Outnumbered, players are directed to Tulum. There, a large doorway in the Assassin Brotherhood stronghold blocks access to inner areas, with Kidd explaining that more Mayan Stones are needed to gain entry, officially commencing the Mayan Mysteries quest.

Northern Mayan Stele #2 can be found on Cat Island at coordinates 703,670, situated near the beach in the northwestern part of the island. A stele on Matanzas, at coordinates 311,617, is located in a wooded area past a warehouse, with its puzzle requiring the large circle to align with a tree base.

At Cape Bonavista (coordinates 159,584), the stele is located near the area where the campaign began. From the fast travel point, players can find a Treasure Map before reaching the clearing with the pillar. Sacrifice Island (coordinates 18,548) hosts a stele next to a fast travel point overlooking the coast. Pinos Isle, at coordinates 303,452 and 311,454, features two Mayan Stelae: one in a courtyard and another by the beach.

Mayan Stelae in the Southern Caribbean

The southern Caribbean also holds a significant number of Mayan Stelae, with nine located in this region.

Southern Mayan Stele #1 is found at Tulum (coordinates 30,382) on the western corner of the stronghold. In Santanillas (coordinates 187,221), the puzzle is located in a sandy area in the northern part of the island. Misteriosa (coordinates 265,171 and 273,175) contains two stelae: one near the shore with a puzzle involving blocks and columns, and another at the back of a temple, accompanied by a nearby Treasure Map.

New Bone (coordinates 400,92), a British-held location, requires players to deal with enemy ships and soldiers before docking. The stele here is conveniently located near an officer from whom a key can be stolen to access the warehouse. Isla Providencia (coordinates 485,25 and 486,22) has two stelae in close proximity to the northernmost fast travel point. Long Bay (coordinates 502,216) features a stele positioned near the entrance to the Observatory. Finally, Tortuga (coordinates 846,352) offers a stele by the beach, close to a fast travel point back to the Jackdaw.

Mayan Mysteries Rewards

After collecting all 16 Mayan Stones, players must return to the Assassin stronghold in Tulum. Interacting with the ancient door will reveal a pathway leading to a raised tower. Inside this tower, players will receive two rewards: the Mayan Outfit, a purely cosmetic item, and the Yax Tun Pendant, a trinket that absorbs gunshots, offering a slight defensive bonus. This questline also often leads players to discover Treasure Maps and Animus Rifts.
