To progress in Blood of Dawnwalker and officially join the Manumit faction, players must complete the quest "Where Loyalty Lies." This questline requires a significant increase in your character's infamy level, a system that may be new to some players.
Raising Your Infamy
The goal is to reach the "Notorious" infamy level, which is the fourth tier on the court's infamy track found in the 'Court' tab of the game's menu. Several methods can help you achieve this.
Completing named Vrakhir quests is a primary way to increase infamy. These quests are available in various regions after leaving Laslea, including Briar Sloughs, Maragir Wealds, and St. Tyna's Grove. Specific examples include quests related to Ambrus, such as Ambrus's Cellars, Ambrus's Transports, Ambrus's Collectors, and Ambrus's Prisoners. Other Vrakhiri boyars also offer similar quests in different regions.
Another effective strategy involves defeating Vrakhiri boyars. Completing their associated quests incrementally increases their anger, which is displayed when hovering over their portraits in the court menu. Consistently finishing all quests within a specific node, like destroying all of Ambrus's blood cellars, will eventually lead to a quest to defeat the boyar themselves, such as "The Gilded Gauntlet" for Ambrus. This offers a substantial infamy boost.
Destroying Soldier Camps and Soldier Pickets also contributes to infamy gain. Soldier Camps are particularly time-efficient, though they do not raise a boyar's anger as significantly as their personal quests. These camps generally reward players with a Swordsmastery manual. Upon reaching infamy level two, Military Checkpoints will become available, offering similar time-saving benefits.
A balanced approach is recommended: focus on destroying Soldier Camps in regions like Ambrus's to unlock abilities, while also engaging with Ambrus's operations to provoke him into a fight. Defeating him provides a large infamy increase. Alternatively, players can travel to a different region and target another boyar, though enemies in these areas may prove more challenging.
Once the "Notorious" infamy level is achieved, players can proceed to Svartrau to locate Sara and continue the Manumit questline.
