With the impending release of Grand Theft Auto 6, many gamers find themselves facing a daunting backlog of unplayed titles. Nvidia's GeForce NOW cloud gaming service offers a potential solution by enabling players to stream games across various devices, maximizing playtime and minimizing downtime.
The core challenge for clearing a backlog lies in efficiently utilizing limited gaming time, often squeezed between work, personal commitments, and family responsibilities. GeForce NOW aims to streamline this process by reducing the time spent on downloads and installations.
Nvidia's service hosts over 4,000 titles, with processing handled by RTX 5080 Superpods in data centers. Visuals are streamed to the user's device, eliminating the need for high-end local hardware. Over 2,000 games are available for immediate play, bypassing lengthy download queues. A stable internet connection with a 25 Mbps download speed is recommended for a 1080p resolution at 60 FPS.
GeForce NOW supports playing games on multiple devices, such as a Steam Deck while traveling or a smartphone during other activities. The service allows users to link their existing game libraries, and save files are accessible across the cloud, ensuring progress is not tied to a single machine. This convenience translates to more time spent actively playing games rather than managing updates or installations.
Titles like Cyberpunk 2077 can be enjoyed with high settings, including 4K resolution and DLSS Multi-frame generation, thanks to the power of the RTX 5080 available through the service. Completing V's storyline in Night City is presented as one example of how players can begin ticking items off their backlog.
Another suggested game is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Its turn-based nature makes it suitable for playing on devices like the Steam Deck during commutes or relaxed evening sessions, allowing players to immerse themselves in its world-building and combat mechanics.
While clearing an entire backlog may still require consistent effort, GeForce NOW offers a way to make significant progress on unplayed games before Grand Theft Auto 6 launches. The service offers a Free account, Day Passes, or an Ultimate tier for full access.
Players can access GeForce NOW through its website or the Google Play Store, depending on their device. System requirements and internet speed recommendations are available on Nvidia's platform.
