Genshin Impact's version 7.0 update has introduced a player trading system, allowing players to exchange certain items. However, the system is subject to restrictions that prevent high-level players from transferring advanced materials to assist lower-level friends.
To engage in trading, players must utilize "Storage Device" constructs found in Snezhnaya. These devices are built using the "Fab-Vision" mode, which is unlocked by acquiring the "Eye of Graeae" device during Snezhnaya's first Archon Quest. Constructing a Storage Device costs 40 Prime Ice and 40% Kresnik Energy, and the ability to build them becomes available after progressing further into Snezhnaya's Act 1 story.
Any Storage Device found in the game world has been placed there by another player. Once built, these devices can be accessed by anyone to add or remove items. Each Storage Device has 30 item slots, with the capacity to stack the same item twice, allowing for a maximum of 60 items per device. Players are limited to five trades per day, with one stack counting as a single use. Taking items from a Storage Device, including those personally stored, consumes a daily trade allowance, but storing items does not.
Storage Devices are often placed near Statues of the Seven and Teleport Waypoints for convenient access, though their exact locations can vary as they are player-created. If players are unable to find any Storage Devices, they may have inadvertently disabled the option to receive them. This setting can be re-enabled within the Fab-Vision build mode by navigating to the Storage Device construct, selecting 'Construct Details', and then the cog icon for Settings, where the option to receive this type of construct can be toggled back on. Disabling the ability to send out one's own constructs can be useful for maintaining a personal storage area or for exclusive trading with friends in co-op.
Trading in co-op requires the world owner to create a Storage Device using Fab-Vision's build mode. While still under testing, this setup should allow both players to use the device for up to five trades. There is a possibility that the Storage Device may not appear for the second player, which would prevent co-op trading. Standard co-op restrictions apply, meaning both players typically need to be at the same World Level, or a higher-level player can join a lower-level player's world. A lower-level player cannot join a higher-level player's world, so the higher-level player must be the one to build the Storage Device. Both players should have reached Snezhnaya, acquired the Eye of Graeae, and spoken with Alyosha before attempting to trade to avoid complications.
Currently, only items categorized as "Materials" are tradable. This includes local specialty Ascension materials such as Frostfairy Flowers and Flockingweed, cooking ingredients, dyes, wood, fishing bait, essential oils, and Prime Ice. Notably, boss drops and Artifacts cannot be traded. While the inability to transfer Artifacts prevents potential exploits in the endgame, it also removes the option to transfer them to a new account without extensive re-grinding. The system does, however, provide a useful way to help friends or alternative accounts acquire needed Ascension materials, which can otherwise take considerable time to farm.
