In Grow a Garden 2, mutations offer a dual benefit: altering a plant's appearance while simultaneously increasing its value through multipliers. While some mutations manifest naturally as plants mature, others are tied to specific in-game weather events, such as the Blood Moon. The fundamental principle to keep in mind is that rarer mutations yield higher multipliers, directly translating to greater in-game currency, known as Sheckles.

There are seven distinct plant mutations in Grow a Garden 2, each associated with a unique multiplier. These mutations can affect a plant's appearance and its sellable worth. Some mutations occur spontaneously during plant growth, while others necessitate particular weather conditions. Players are encouraged to check their gardens regularly to observe these changes. Currently, only one mutation can be applied to a single fruit at a time.

The mutations and their respective multipliers are as follows:

  • Big: Multiplier x25. This mutation occurs randomly and causes the fruit to grow larger. Its appearance is simply a bigger version of the base fruit.
  • Bloodlit: Multiplier x60. This mutation is exclusive to the Blood Moon event, which occurs only at night. Affected fruits develop red sparkles and rotate in red and black hues.
  • Electric: Multiplier x25. Triggered by a Lightning Storm event, this mutation causes the fruit to glow blue and white.
  • Frozen: Multiplier x14. Occurs during a Snowfall event, encasing the fruit in ice.
  • Gold: Multiplier x10. This mutation can occur naturally or during a Midas event. It can also be induced by planting a Rainbow Seed, resulting in a plant that turns gold.
  • Rainbow: Multiplier x30. This mutation can occur naturally or during a Rainbow event. It can also be induced by planting a Rainbow Seed, causing the fruit to exhibit rainbow sparkles and rotate through rainbow colors.
  • Starstruck: Multiplier x50. This mutation occurs during a Starfall event and makes the fruit glow with a light blue, white glow.
  • Aurora: Multiplier x90. Tied to the Aurora event, the specific visual changes for this mutation are still to be confirmed (TBC).
