Mutations are a key mechanic in Grow a Garden 2 for rapidly increasing in-game currency. These effects are applied to crops during specific weather events, dramatically enhancing their harvested value. While some mutations offer modest gains, the rarest provide the most substantial profit increases.

Each mutation comes with a multiplier that affects crop value, and most are tied to particular weather phenomena. For instance, planting Gold Seeds during a Gold Moon event offers a chance for the Gold mutation, which multiplies value by x10. The Frozen mutation, occurring during Snowfall, provides a x14 multiplier, while Lightning storms can trigger the Electric mutation with a x25 multiplier. Higher multipliers are available through rarer events: Rainbows yield a x30 multiplier, Auroras a x40 multiplier, and Starfalls a x50 multiplier. The Blood Moon event can activate the Bloodlit mutation, offering the highest multiplier at x60.

The most lucrative mutations are Bloodlit (x60) and Starstruck (x50). It is important to note that once a mutated crop is harvested, subsequent crops grown in the same spot will not retain the mutation. Players can increase the likelihood of mutations by planting Gold and Rainbow Seeds, obtained during their respective moon events.

At present, Grow a Garden 2 only allows a single mutation to affect a plant at any given time. This differs from the original game, which permitted stacking mutations. Whether this functionality will be altered in future updates remains to be seen.
