Finding all the hidden collectibles in Halo: Campaign Evolved can be a daunting task, but this guide focuses on the specific locations of three skulls and one terminal within the "The Most Dangerous Game" mission. These items are crucial for players looking to fully explore the campaign's secrets.
The Temperamental Skull
The Temperamental skull is unique as it requires multiple interactions throughout the mission. It cannot be acquired by returning to specific points; players must progress through the level in a single playthrough. The skull is earned by breaking the shields of a specific invincible golden elite that appears at various stages.
The first encounter with this elite is during the "survive and explore the Hunting Reserve" objective. After dealing with ambushing enemies, players will find a golden elite on a ledge to the right of a large cliff. A long-range weapon is recommended to break its shields.
Later, when approaching a large purple bridge with numerous Covenant forces, the elite will be visible again. It will be positioned to the left of a wraith, near a large door. Players must break its shields from a distance before it disappears through the doorway.
Before encountering the elite a third time, players have the opportunity to find the Penitent Report terminal. After rescuing marines and discovering the terminal, Johnson will announce the presence of a Covenant HVT. This HVT is the elite. It will be located on a ledge above and to the left, clearly marked with a red icon on the HUD. Breaking its shields for the third time is the final step for this skull.
Once these steps are completed, the Temperamental skull will be found inside the tall Covenant structure in the middle of the area, marked by a blue light.
The Recession Skull
The Recession skull is located after dealing with the enemies on the purple bridge section. Players must cross the bridge, then turn back and travel across it again. Before them will be a large, locked door flanked by two towers. At the top of each tower is a purple flame containing a crate. Shooting and destroying these crates will cause the door to open, revealing the Recession skull.
The Penitent Report Terminal
To find the Penitent Report terminal, players should proceed through the mission after rescuing marines from cells and passing through two armories. The terminal is located in a room with large windows on the left, accessible through a doorway on the right after ascending a long slope.
The Ghost Skull
The Ghost skull is located after surviving a banshee ambush and crossing a grav bridge. Following a dialogue exchange, a door will open into an area filled with Covenant enemies. It is recommended to clear this area before attempting to retrieve the skull.
The skull itself is situated above the entry door, within one of the purple flames. Players have two primary methods for reaching it. The first involves using grenade jumping to ascend a raised area immediately to the left of the door.
Alternatively, for players who cannot grenade jump or are struggling with that method, hugging the wall around the corner leads to a tree and stalagmites. By carefully jumping from one ledge to another on the stalagmites, players can ascend to the platform.
Once on the raised section, players should look towards the yellow tree branches and climb up this small segment. From this vantage point, a standard jump should provide enough height to reach the flame containing the Ghost skull.
