Fire bricks are a crucial component for several new crafting recipes in Grounded 2, including the diving suit necessary for exploring the pond's depths and the abyss area. However, the game does not immediately guide players toward acquiring them. The process involves scanning a specific resource and constructing a new processing station.
Unlocking the Fire Brick Recipe
To obtain the recipe for fire bricks, players must scan a piece of phantom quartz. This new item, a pink gemstone, appears in the Gnarly Bark region, specifically under and around the dead oak tree. Significant deposits can be found within the cave-like hollow beneath the tree, which is accessible from the northeast side near a rubber duck point of interest.
This area is fraught with danger. The waters within the tree hollow are infested with diving bell spiders that inflict venom. Players are advised to use a spear or a harpoon gun, as other weapons cannot be used while swimming. The land around the phantom quartz deposits is patrolled by pincher and whipper earwigs, and striped bark scorpions, which deal more damage than their northern counterparts and possess laser-equipped stingers on their O.R.C. variants.
Furthermore, harvesting phantom quartz requires the omni-hammer to be upgraded to its third tier. Once prepared for combat and with the necessary hammer upgrade, players can mine the quartz deposits. Scanning the harvested quartz at a ranger station will then unlock the fire brick recipe.
Crafting Fire Bricks
Crafting fire bricks necessitates four chunks of clay and one stack of crushed quartz. The crushed quartz is obtained by processing phantom quartz in the quern, a station unlocked when a player's brainpower level reaches 11. Building the quern requires sturdy quartzite, which can be found in locations such as the War-Torn Anthill.
It is important to distinguish the oven from the cookery, the latter being used for preparing meals. The oven, functioning as a kiln, is unlocked by collecting the Hedge Turbo Disk. This item is located in the northeast corner of the Fire Pit region, an area guarded by a wolf spider and covered in spider webs. Travel through this area is manageable on foot or with the ant buggy, though the orb weaver buggy is recommended for an easier journey.
