The culmination of your journey in Beast of Reincarnation leads to a final confrontation with the titular Beast of Reincarnation. This formidable foe is revealed to be the recurring character Mikoto, who has been assisting players with stat respecs throughout the game. Despite its 'infinite' level, players who have overcome previous challenges should find this boss beatable with the right approach.
Preparing for the Beast
The Beast primarily utilizes Flame-element attacks, making any equipment that boosts Flame Resistance highly beneficial. The boss has no known elemental weaknesses, so focus on your preferred weapons and skills. A build centered around Critical Hits and Status Effects, utilizing weapons like the Shark Cutter sword and Poison or Acid-element Bloom/Blade Arts, can be effective for dealing damage-over-time. Applying one or two elements consistently is more advisable than attempting to stack multiple at once.
Certain attacks from the Beast, such as its staff swing combo and Flame-element arc projectiles, offer excellent opportunities for parrying. Successful parries can restore Koo's FP, enabling the use of Bloom Arts. The fight is structured into two phases, each with its own health bar, so conserving Stimpacks is crucial.
Understanding the Phases
During the first phase, around the Beast's halfway health mark, a prompt will appear for a lethal attack. This involves Emma using the Kanzashi item, which dispels the Beast's shield. After a brief cutscene, the Beast's health bar will be fully restored, and the fight continues.
The second phase is typically triggered by time elapsed rather than health depleted. The Beast appears to defeat Emma and Koo, but they inevitably revive, and the fight resumes. Similar to the first phase, the Beast will regain full HP. However, Emma and Koo's Blade/Bloom Arts will be restored, and players gain access to the 'Blossoms of Reincarnation' attack, which should be utilized.
During parts of the second phase, Blade Arts and Koo's Bloom Arts may be inaccessible. This period is best approached by focusing on parrying and defensive maneuvers, as it appears to be a timed sequence.
Beast of Reincarnation Moveset and Counters
- Explosive Beam: The Beast fires a beam from its staff that pans across the arena. After a short delay, the affected area explodes. Dodge forward to evade this attack.
- Flame Arcs: Similar to other projectile attacks, the Beast launches Flame-element arcs from its staff. These can be parried to restore FP.
- Staff Swing: The Beast performs melee combos with its staff, swinging it from side to side. This is a prime opportunity for parrying and restoring FP for Bloom Arts. The attack concludes with the staff being slammed into the ground.
- AoE Slash: The Beast pauses and indicates an unparryable attack with a glowing red line. A flurry of slashes then emanates from the boss, damaging anyone in contact. Dodge away from the Beast when the red line appears.
Blight State
Like previous bosses, the Beast can temporarily imbue itself with blight, indicated by a red glow. During this state, its attacks become faster and deal significantly more damage. It is critical to react swiftly to these enhanced attacks by parrying or dodging to conserve health.
