Halo: Campaign Evolved offers players the option to experience its campaign from a third-person viewpoint, a feature that generated considerable discussion prior to the game's release. While the original Halo: Combat Evolved was strictly a first-person shooter, this remake introduces not only third-person capabilities but also mechanics like sprinting and aiming down sights for automatic weapons. However, the setting to switch camera perspectives is not readily apparent.
To engage third-person mode, players must locate a specific item known as the Perspective skull. Halo: Campaign Evolved includes a total of 42 skulls, with three hidden within each level and an additional three unlocked after finding the first two. These collectibles are often concealed in challenging locations.
The Perspective skull, fortunately, is accessible during the game's initial mission, 'Pillar of Autumn.' After progressing through the opening sequence and reaching Captain Keyes on the bridge, players will regain control of Master Chief. Instead of continuing forward, turn back and re-enter the bridge.
Behind Captain Keyes, two marines will be operating the ship's controls. Below them, a pit contains a ladder. Descend into this pit to find the Perspective skull.
Once the skull has been collected, players can save and exit the mission. This action enables the skull's effect, allowing the remainder of Halo: Campaign Evolved to be played from a third-person perspective.
