The Blood of Dawnwalker features a unique mechanic where players can extend their in-game time limit by assisting a special race of beings known as Sanzhani. These small, fairy-like creatures, described as a cross between a moth and a pixie, reside in underground burrows and can offer crucial aid if their quests are completed. Successfully helping the Sanzhani rewards players with additional time, effectively pushing back the deadline to save your family.

The Good Home Quest

Before any Sanzhani can be found, players must first complete the "Good Home" quest. This quest begins in the Svartrau Outskirts, where players should look for a flowerbed with glowing moths. Following these insects leads to a small opening that, when crawled through, reveals the Yawning Burrow and a young girl named Heile. Heile hails from the abandoned village of Oghasti, which players must then visit to investigate her former home. Interacting with an axe embedded in the wall costs one Time Segment, while examining the second floor of the larger house consumes two Time Segments.

The journey continues to the Coal Burners’ Camp. Here, players need to find trees marked with an "X" and locate a lone man sitting by a campfire. After providing the man, named Tonis, with an alcoholic drink, players learn he is Heile's brother. Helping Tonis with his task costs three Time Segments, but he can then accompany the player back to the Yawning Burrow.

Communicating with Lunka via the Sanzhani Tsarina

Upon returning to the Yawning Burrow, players will encounter the Sanzhani Tsarina, marking the first Sanzhani encounter. Convincing Tonis that Heile is better off in the burrow is necessary to proceed. The Tsarina reveals her kind's ability to help communicate with the player's sister, Lunka, initiating the "Letters to Lunka" questline. While one message can be sent at a time, with replies arriving after a day-night cycle, players can pursue other Sanzhani quests concurrently. Each completed Sanzhani quest allows for another message to be sent to Lunka, and actions within these quests typically cost around two Time Segments.

The Letters to Lunka Quests

The "Letters to Lunka" questline involves several distinct tasks spread across the game world.

Pearly and Precious

South of Stoneward Post, players will find a destroyed cart. Locating a Sanzhana fairy near the cart and following a trail to eliminate bandits transforms the fairy into a vendor. This vendor exclusively buys Shiny Tooth items for 150 denarii each and sells various goods, including skill manuals and the legendary amulet "Fear of the Wilds," which offers bonuses to weapon damage, stamina cost, and AC restoration. She also sells a Silk Thread for 5,750 denarii, required for the "A Bulwark Against Darkness" quest. After the player leaves, she relocates permanently to the Yawning Burrow.

Burrow Sorrows

This quest requires players to speak with a Sanzhana, then clear out kobolds from a nearby burrow to retrieve a charm.

Tiny Dancer

In Svartrau City, near the central area, a Sanzhana is found imprisoned in a cage within a house. Players can access the house via a second-floor balcony. If it is nighttime, the Shadowstep/Planeshift ability can be used for entry. During the day, a running jump from a sloping pathway is needed. Inside, players can find a Cage Key to free the pixie. The house's inhabitant also has hidden silver that players can loot.

Come Hither

East of the Silty Mug Inn and north of the Vedera Marsh Guardpost, players will encounter another fairy. After speaking with the fairy, players must drop into a cavernous area to fight a Murohn. Defeating the creature yields Silk Threads, which are available for free, unlike the vendor's offering.

Final Reward

Upon assisting all five Sanzhani, players return to the Yawning Burrow to speak with the Sanzhani Tsarina. The reward for these efforts is the most critical: a permanent extension of the game's timer. Players receive an additional day, comprised of eight daytime and eight nighttime segments, granting more time to complete objectives and avoid a negative outcome for their family.
