This obstacle requires a more thoughtful approach than combat, involving a search for clues and specific interactions to proceed to the subsequent Nushi encounter.
Upon entering the cave chamber containing a large statue, bell, and an unlit brazier, players will find that standard fire arrows are ineffective. The solution lies in carefully observing the three smaller braziers encircling the central one and deciphering a clue within the immediate vicinity. A rusted golem near the large brazier provides the initial hint: "light the fires in the proper order."
The exact sequence is revealed by reading the "Light the Pyres" document found at the base of the giant statue. The crucial line states: "Light the celestial bodies in the order they were born." Each of the three smaller braziers is marked with a symbol representing either the sun, the moon, or the earth.
To solve the puzzle, players must ignite these braziers in the following order: Sun, Earth, and then Moon. This translates to lighting the brazier furthest from the statue first, followed by the one closest to it, and finally the one in the middle.
Successfully lighting the braziers in this sequence will cause the large central fire to ignite. The next step involves ringing the large bell positioned above the pyres. Players can access the bell by taking the elevator located to the left of the large statue. Ascending and passing behind the statue leads to the Belfry Interior campfire. The bell can be struck by moving southeast from this campfire.
With the bell rung, the fire puzzle is completed, and the "Origin of the Ringing" quest is finished. This action opens the path to the Nushi's lair, allowing players to proceed by entering the room behind the campfire and following the newly accessible route.
