The train in Big Walk serves as a key mode of transport, but it requires a specific action to become operational. Players will encounter train tracks early in the game, but initially, no trains will be running on them. To get the train moving and utilize its rails, players must first complete a particular tower.
Unlocking the Train
The train is unlocked by completing the blue tower, located on the eastern half of the island, across the mountain from the red tower. Similar to other towers in the game, this requires collecting five red, gourd-shaped items received after completing challenges. These collectibles must be placed into compartments at the top of the blue tower. Following this, a key must be taken to the base of the tower and inserted into five keyholes. This process carves out a key, and by following an arrow, players will eventually reach an area overlooking the train tracks where a stationary red train can be seen.
Once the key is placed in the designated slot, the train will activate and begin moving. Players can then board it.
Using the Train
The trains in Big Walk travel in a clockwise direction around the island without making scheduled stops. Scattered across the island are several small train stations, each featuring a schedule that indicates the arrival time of the next train and its position relative to any unlocked towers. A similar map can also be found on the back of the train itself.
Players have control over certain aspects of the train. Horns can be activated from the front to signal other players, and a lever allows for speed control. While the train defaults to its fastest speed, it can also be brought to a complete stop by the player.
