In Big Walk, players can unlock a network of underground tunnels to quickly traverse the game's expansive map. These tunnels, visible as colored openings in the landscape, are initially inaccessible. Unlocking them requires the completion of a specific tower, after which players can travel underground without the need to scale cliffs.
Unlocking the Tunnels
To open all of the tunnels, players must complete the yellow tower situated in the northern section of the map. While this tower is located some distance from the starting area, it can be reached on foot. Alternatively, players can complete the green tower and utilize the nearby ski lift to reach the northern region.
The process involves collecting five red, gourd-shaped collectibles obtained after completing challenges. These collectibles must be placed in compartments at the tower's summit. Following this, a key is acquired and must be inserted into five keyholes located around the tower's base. The final step involves taking this key to a yellow tunnel entrance near the black tower and beneath the ski lift, where inserting it will activate all tunnel entrances.
Navigating the Tunnels
Inside the tunnels, which are described as completely dark, a flashlight will be available on the floor at each entrance. To use the tunnel system, players simply need to enter an entrance and follow the directional signs towards their desired destination. While travel through the tunnels still takes time due to the game's scale, it offers a more efficient alternative to navigating the terrain above, avoiding obstacles like rocks.
Beyond their function as a rapid transit system, the tunnels also contain hidden surprises, encouraging thorough exploration.
