The Troubadour's Lute, a unique sidearm capable of confusing enemies, has returned in Mortal Shell 2. While it was a popular choice during the game's beta, its location has shifted from the Mushroom Village to a more secluded spot that players may overlook until later in the game.

To obtain the Troubadour's Lute, players must locate and enter the One Legged Wolf Tavern. This establishment is situated to the east of Mushroom Village, requiring players to cross several bridges and cleanse a wall of corruption. Cleansing these corrupted areas necessitates the use of Mether's Breath, which is acquired by collecting Ova and siphoning them in the Ovum Siphon room within Marrow Keep.

Starting from the Mushroom Village Beacon, players should turn right and follow the path downhill until they reach a slope with hanged figures. Continue past a female cultist and an area with a Necrite enemy. Here, players should take the second rope bridge, avoiding the one that leads to Hilga. If the Mushroom Village Gate Beacon has not been activated, it is advisable to do so, as it is located to the right of this second bridge and grants access to a Corrupted Gate that eventually leads to a boss.

Beyond the bridge, a Trial structure can be found, yielding Ventrium upon completion. Behind this structure, near a chest containing a Marksman's Stone, players will encounter poison-throwing cultists. After defeating them, proceed to the corruption wall. Interacting with this wall will cleanse it, allowing passage. Be cautious, as a hulking Cannibal Knight guards this area. After defeating the knight, turn right.

The One Legged Wolf Beacon will come into view. This beacon can be automatically cleansed. Nearby, Ruk offers a piece of the map. The One Legged Wolf tavern is located to the right of the beacon. Follow the path to the tavern, enter, and the Troubadour's Lute can be found on the stage.

In the Mortal Shell 2 beta, the Troubadour's Lute was accessible from a chest in the center of Mushroom Village. This chest required activating three offering stations with lit candles scattered throughout the village. While these offering stations remain in the full release, the chest now contains a Glimpse and an Auspicious Stone instead of the Lute.

Utilizing the Troubadour's Lute

The Troubadour's Lute functions as a sidearm, launching waves of musical energy. Direct hits inflict the Confusion status on enemies, causing them to attack nearby foes for a limited duration, indicated by an icon and countdown above their health bars. If no other enemies are present, the Lute deals Break damage, potentially opening targets for a riposte.

Multiple applications of Confusion are possible with sufficient Resolve, allowing players to pit enemies against each other and even let them deal damage to themselves. This ability is particularly effective for clearing groups of enemies without direct engagement, making it a valuable tool in the early game. While less effective against single bosses, the Lute remains useful for its Break damage and serves as a reliable backup sidearm, especially when navigating dungeons with multiple enemies.
