The Outskirts Of Mammon in Mortal Shell 2 present a significant challenge, scaling considerably higher than the game's earlier regions. This guide provides a detailed walkthrough of the area, broken down into 13 steps, to help players collect valuable materials, defeat enemies, and progress through this new territory.
Navigating the Crumbling Tunnel and Smuggler's Hideout
Begin by fast traveling to the Outskirts Of Mammon Beacon. From there, enter the Crumbling Tunnel, a single-room dungeon. After defeating the Tarred Vestige and looting a Glimpse from the statue, return to the overworld. Back at the Beacon, locate the catapult and a nearby Ventrium. Proceed down the slope to the right of the Beacon to find two enemy camps. The left camp is guarded by three Brigands, while the right camp features one Brigand and one Armed Knave. Be cautious of bear traps surrounding these camps. After clearing the left camp and looting a Common Moonshine, clear the right camp, collecting more Moonshine and a Coin Pouch. Enter the dungeon entrance next to the right camp to access the Smuggler's Hideout. Inside, defeat two Brigands and an Armed Knave, then loot a Coin Of Mammon near a waterfall. Beyond the waterfall, defeat another Knave and destroy crates for two Ventrium. Open the chest for a Coin Of Mammon. As you exit, you will be ambushed by another Brigand and a more aggressive Stoner enemy.
Securing the Map of Mammon and Exploring Ruk's Area
Descend the slope from the Beacon and cross the bridge to find Ruk near one of his map statues. Defeat the two Brigands guarding him and collect the Map Of Mammon. This map reveals the locations of the next three Corrupted Gates, leading to Mammon's legacy dungeons and bosses. Collect two Weltcaps behind Ruk's statue. Nearby, a catapult can be interacted with, but requires a Makeshift Projectile. Make your way down the slopes behind Ruk's statue to clear out Tarblighted Miners and a Brigand. Observe that two Bone Gates lead to different areas; for now, these and all subsequent Bone Gates encountered should be ignored. Return to the Outskirts Of Mammon Beacon to rest if necessary.
The Hag's Pit and Clearing the Battlefield
Proceed along the main path beside the Corrupted Statue, entering the battlefield. Turn left down a slope to find a cave entrance beneath the Corrupted Statue, leading to the Hag's Pit dungeon. After defeating a Babka that ambushes you, clear the room below, raining fire on multiple Babkas before engaging them. Loot two Laterite, a Coin, a Justiciar's Stone from a chest, and three Burnt Effigies from destroyed crates. Use the air current to exit the dungeon. Subsequently, systematically clear the entire battlefield. Near the far catapult, find a Coin Pouch. Head left to defeat a Headsman and Brigands, ignoring the Bone Gate. Return to clear the right side of the battlefield, encountering an Armed Knave and six Brigands guarding the entrance to the Road To Absolution. After defeating them, loot a chest for the Foundry Stone, which expands the Forge's capabilities at Marrow Keep. Collect three Weltcaps from a nearby tree.
Meeting Vlas and Investigating Eastern Ruins
Return to the area with the bridges behind the wall and cross both. Head straight ahead and up to a higher ledge to meet the NPC Vlas. Exhaust his dialogue, then find his lost cat, Mutton, in a stack of crates to receive a Coin Of Mammon. Destroy a Gloom Tentacle near Vlas for Gloom. To the right of Mutton's crate, find a path to the east leading to some ruins. Collect three Weltcaps near a tree and defeat a Grisha Hunter. Enter the ruins, first investigating the area to the right of the entrance. Loot a Netopyr camp for a Coin Pouch and an Egon's Stone. Before entering the ruins proper, find the Headsman's Stone, which improves melee critical damage, to the left of the entrance. Once inside the ruins, head down the left slope, collecting Weltcaps. Ignore the Bone Gate at the bottom. Follow the cliff edge around to find another Coin Of Mammon, guarded by a Grisha Hunter.
The Road to Absolution and Obtaining the Makeshift Projectile
Backtrack from the ruins and head left to the area where you first encountered Grisha Hunters. Use the air current to ascend to the Road To Absolution. Defeat two Brigands and a Knight Of Mammon as you fight your way back towards the battlefield. From Vlas's camp, take the right-hand path opposite the ruins and drop down to a lower ledge. Follow the first left to a clifftop where you will find three Grisha Hunters. After defeating them, loot the Makeshift Projectile from the ground. Collect an additional three Weltcaps from a nearby rock.
Firing the Projectile and Base Upgrades
Return down the slope and defeat Wretches on either side of the bridge, looting Ventrium and a Gloom Tentacle. Use the Bone Gate found near the Wretches to return to the area behind Ruk's statue. Navigate back to the catapult beside Ruk's statue and load the Makeshift Projectile. The catapult will fire the projectile into the distance, its destination to be discovered later. Having explored the Outskirts Of Mammon, return to the Marrow Keep and speak with Franz, presenting him with the Foundry Stone. This action unlocks the ability to spend Gloom to reset weapon levelling, refunding all invested resources and allowing for greater experimentation with weapon builds.
