Hidden treasures in Onimusha: Way of the Sword are tied to a series of side quests that become available once players reach the "To Live is to Suffer" main quest. Accepting these missions reveals a green circle on the in-game map, indicating a general area where a chest can be found. To locate the exact spot, players must decipher clues from provided old drawings.
Hidden Treasure No. 1
Rewards: 1 fine silk cloth and 2 oni stones.
The first hidden treasure quest begins by speaking with a woman northwest of the Gojo Street - West Spirit Mirror. The accompanying "Old Drawing No. 1" depicts the treasure atop a building with a pagoda in the background, described as being "at the top of Kiyomizu-zaka Slope."
To reach this location, start from the Kiyomizu-zaka Spirit Mirror, then turn right into a narrow path behind some buildings. A ladder will appear on your left. Ascend it, and upon reaching the building's top, find another ladder to climb. This leads to the roof shown in the drawing. The chest can then be made to appear using the player's gauntlet.
Hidden Treasure No. 2
Rewards: 1 fine silk cloth and 2 oni stones.
This quest is initiated by speaking with a man near the Kiyomizu-zaka Slope Spirit Mirror, who provides "Old Drawing No. 2." Key visual cues in this drawing include a pagoda in the background and a ladder. The description for this treasure reads: "where the Buddhas overlook the flow."
The chest is located west of the Yasaka Pagoda Spirit Mirror. Follow the narrow street downwards until you find a ladder on the right side. Climb down, turn west, and you will discover a small waterfall with Buddha statues above it. As with the first treasure, the gauntlet is required to reveal the chest.
Hidden Treasure No. 3
Rewards: 1 fine silk cloth and 2 power stones.
Players can start the third hidden treasure quest by talking to a woman north of the map, west of the Shijo Street Spirit Mirror. She provides "Old Drawing No. 3," which shows the treasure near a gate leading to a garden. The clue states: "at the temple where dragons soar."
While this drawing lacks clear landmarks, the "dragons" hint is crucial. Considering the area suggested by the quest, the building east of the Kami River - East Spirit Mirror, where players fought two genma brothers, is a likely candidate. Head to that fighting arena. Before entering the main building, turn right to access the east side of the garden. Near the gate, the chest can be found and revealed with the gauntlet.
Hidden Treasure No. 4
Rewards: 1 fine silk cloth and 2 power stones.
To begin the Hidden Treasure No. 4 quest, approach the man selling geta on Shijo Street in the northern part of the map. He will give you "Old Drawing No. 4," which illustrates the outer corner of a wraparound veranda offering a view of a pagoda.
The relevant area is on the southeastern side of the map, closest to the Gojo Street - East Spirit Mirror. After teleporting there, climb the stairs to the right of the Spirit Mirror and walk across the wall to bridge a gap. Take the path to the left, continuously heading northeast. At the highest point in this section, large stone steps lead up to the building depicted in the drawing. The hidden treasure chest is situated on the left side of the veranda.
Hidden Treasure No. 5
Rewards: 1 fine silk cloth, 2 oni stones, and 1 skeleton hozuki.
Unlocking the Hidden Treasure No. 5 side quest involves speaking with a woman north of the map, west of the Shijo Street Spirit Mirror. She describes a mysterious armored ghost who asked her to find Musashi, and provides "Old Drawing No. 5." This drawing shows only a portion of a building's roof and an adjacent street, with the description "The highest place in the capital."
Based on the quest's context, the Yasaka Pagoda fits the description of the "highest place." Travel east of the Rokudo-chinnoji Temple and enter the area near the Yasaka Pagoda Spirit Mirror. Turn right to find the building's entrance. After ascending several flights of stairs, an opening provides access to the roof. The chest can be found on the south side of the roof and revealed using the gauntlet.
