Chapter 7 of Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy presents players with a significant challenge in the form of the Black Temple doors. Progress through this section requires a keen understanding of the game's light manipulation mechanics and careful observation.
Opening the Second Black Temple Door
To bypass the initial set of doors in the Black Temple, players must utilize the orb's Light Reveal ability to uncover hidden markings. Stand in a beam of light near a large hole and activate Light Reveal, then turn to face the wall behind you to find skull markings. Interacting with these will trigger the next step. After a confrontation with soldiers, repeat the Light Reveal process on another wall to find more skull markings. Return to the main pedestal outside the locked doors once this is complete.
With the skull markings discovered, the next phase involves reflecting colored lights. Activate the skull button on the main pedestal. The goal is to match the orb's colored lights to three spots on the center of the doors, but the colors will not align directly. Players must use the reflectors scattered around the area to bounce the light. First, adjust the central reflector to be in the middle of the outer rim of the hole. Then, stand on the designated circle in front of the pedestal and use the Light Splitter. Aim the green light at the central reflector. Subsequently, position the orb so that the blue light strikes the right reflector and the red light hits the upper-left one. Successful alignment of these colors will reveal platforms leading down into the hole, allowing progression.
Unlocking the Mountain Temple Door
Further into the game, Chapter 10 introduces the mountain temple door, a puzzle that combines light manipulation with code-breaking. Sophia's book plays a crucial role in solving this environmental challenge.
Begin by opening Sophia's book to observe the drawings. Across both pages, you'll find three warriors in the upper left, a depiction of the door, and six symbols on the right page that need to be identified. This information is key to the door's code.
To activate the light mechanics, follow a water stream away from the main door to a small cave containing a reflector. Interact with the light source inside the cave to turn it on, and then aim it at the reflector just outside. Adjust this external reflector to direct the light to another reflector positioned on a ledge opposite it.
The next step involves finding six hidden symbols scattered throughout the area. The first symbol can be found by looking to the right of the initial cave reflector, where a circular statue stands. Stand on the circle in front of it and use Light Reveal to expose the symbol. The game automatically records these findings. Next, go to the reflector on the platform and reveal the symbol adjacent to it. Afterward, position the reflector to direct light to the one on the center platform before the main door. Players will likely face enemy encounters at this point and must defeat them before proceeding.
Once Faro illuminates the main door, locate the remaining symbols. One is on a statue to the left of the main door, marked by a bow symbol beneath a circle. Another is on a ledge further to the left. The final symbol is found at ground level behind the center platform. After collecting all six symbols, return to the mountain door.
Three pedestals are situated outside the mountain door, each with a darker ring on top. These indicate which ring of the door each pedestal controls: the left for the innermost, the middle for the middle, and the right for the outermost.
Consult Sophia's book again. The drawings on the lower right page will display three symbols paired with warriors, and three target-like symbols. The dark rings on these targets correspond to the door rings that can be moved. To decipher the code, match the smaller symbols from the warrior drawings with their corresponding pairs on the right page. The symbol that appears on the door for that pair is the correct input.
The solution to the mountain door code from left to right is as follows: the inner ring requires the Snake symbol (from the Sword and Shield pair), the middle ring needs the Upwards arrow symbol (from the Bow and Arrow pair), and the outer ring uses the 'H' shape symbol (from the Spear and Shield pair). Inputting these correctly into their respective pedestals and then using the Light Splitter in front of the door will open it.
