To keep your submersible, the Tadpole, in good condition against aggressive creatures and hazardous terrain in Subnautica 2, acquiring the Repair Tool is essential. Similar to obtaining the Habitat Builder, Rebreather, and Sonic Resonator, the process involves scanning fragments to unlock the Repair Tool's blueprint before crafting it.
Locating Repair Tool Fragments
The first fragment can be found approximately 200m to 250m southeast or south of your Lifepod. Navigate to a ring-shaped cave near stone spires, which may be identifiable by Chap's black box signal if you have activated your NOA. Inside this cave, you will find a red hatch leading to an abandoned base. The Repair Tool fragment is located on a desk near the entrance. Use your Scanner's orange dots to guide you. While in the base, you can also interact with the Biobed to potentially expand your inventory.
To access the Northern Ruins, where the second fragment is located, you will first need a Sonic Resonator. Fragments for the Sonic Resonator are found within the Old Habitat, situated about 350m northwest or north of your Lifepod. Swim beneath the Old Habitat and enter through a hole in the floor. The first fragment is on your right upon entry, and the second is in the next room on the floor. Crafting the Sonic Resonator requires a Fully Functional Fabricator and Processor, along with a Battery, two Titanium Ingots, two Lead, and a Wiring Kit.
Once you have the Sonic Resonator, head to the Northern Ruins, about 250m to 270m north of the Lifepod. A ruined base there will be obstructed by Biofilm, which can be cleared with the Sonic Resonator. Inside, a Repair Tool fragment can be found on a table.
The third and final Repair Tool fragment is located near a wreckage approximately 350m northeast of the Lifepod. Access the wreckage by swimming underneath and entering the hangar door. The small room inside contains the fragment on the floor.
Crafting the Repair Tool
With all fragments scanned and the blueprint unlocked, you can craft the Repair Tool at your Fabricator. The necessary materials include one Titanium Ingot, one Sulfur, one Battery, and one Wiring Kit. It is advisable to carry spare Batteries, as the Repair Tool requires them to function and will need recharging.
