Anca is one of three potential romance options in The Blood of Dawnwalker. She is the first character you will encounter, crossing paths with Coen in the prologue. Anca is a human medic who resides in the woods of Laslea Glen, and romancing her requires completing her questline and making specific dialogue choices.
Initiating the Romance
Your initial meeting with Anca occurs in the prologue when Coen's mother, Esme, requires herbs. You can purchase these from Anca by paying full price, half price, or promising to pay later; the payment method does not affect the romance outcome. Anca's hut is located in the eastern woods, easily accessible via the Anca's Hut shrine.
Completing Anca's Questline
To progress the romance, you must complete a series of quests. It is advisable to undertake these quests during the day. If you must speak with Anca while in your vampire state, ensure your health is not low to avoid triggering your bloodlust.
Key Quests and Choices
- Withering Away (Optional): This quest involves fetching herbs for Coen's mother. As noted, your payment choice here does not impact the romance.
- Page-Turner (Optional): Anca may invite you to practice Latin. Accepting this quest allows for some light flirting but is not essential for the romance.
- Echoes of the Silenced Bells: This quest takes you to St. Tyna's Convent. You will face a transformed nun, Leonica, in a boss fight. Afterward, you can choose to burn the notes to undo the curse or give them to Anca. While Anca appreciates being given the notes, either choice is acceptable for the romance.
- Between the Words: You will retrieve literature from the convent and return to the inn with Anca. Preparing her a drink here can lead to flirting, but it is not a mandatory step for romance.
- Where Old Devils Lie: Using knowledge from the books, you will search for the Font of Life. Along the way, Anca may flirt with you, calling you a "dashing daredevil." Upon reaching the lake, you can initiate flirting by selecting dialogue options such as, "Something troubling you?" and "I care about you." However, Anca will redirect your focus to the primary objective.
- Stronger Than Achilles: This quest significantly ramps up the flirting. As you explore ruins and fight enemies, take opportunities to flirt. A key moment occurs when you must place your hand into a contraption to open a door. You should offer yourself, not Anca, stating, "Better me than you." Following this, Anca reveals a deception regarding the Font of Life. You can then select dialogue options like, "I'd do anything for you," and "I love you." Despite her somewhat rude responses, patience is key for the romance.
The Font of Life Decision
At the conclusion of the Stronger Than Achilles quest, you will reach the Font of Life. You can choose to use it yourself to passively regenerate human health or allow Anca to use it to rid herself of magic. This choice does not affect the possibility of romance.
Finalizing the Romance
After the Font of Life encounter, you will return to the inn. Select the dialogue option, "There's a conversation we need to finish," followed by, "I meant what I said." Although Anca may initially call your advances inappropriate, persist. She will eventually express a desire to remove your shirt, and you can respond with, "Screw decency. I want you, too." Choosing to remain just friends will end the romance path. Successful completion of these steps leads to a romantic scene with Anca. Following this, she may state that further intimacy is unlikely due to your Dawnwalker nature, but the romance has been achieved.
