The Blood of Dawnwalker's "Forge It Anew" questline tasks players with locating three distinct sword shards to reforge the powerful Sword of St. Mihai. Successfully completing these side quests yields one of the game's best swords, making it a worthwhile endeavor for any player.
Sword Shard 1: Forge It Anew: Do Not Disturb
The first sword shard is found by initiating the "Forge It Anew: Do Not Disturb" side quest. This quest begins in an abandoned camp in northern Maragir. Players should investigate the area using Focus Mode to discover a Florin's Orders Note and a hand symbol on a nearby rock. Following a trail from this point leads to a cave entrance.
Inside the cave, players will encounter and defeat Kobolds. Interacting with a shrine within the cave will yield the first sword shard, consuming three time segments. Players will then need to find two more shards.
Sword Shard 2: Forge It Anew: Executive Order
The second sword shard is tied to the "Forge It Anew: Executive Order" side quest, located in a cave east of Tantari Woods, specifically northeast of Birch Woodlet Shrine. Upon entering the cave, players will find several corpses to loot and the opportunity to use Focus Mode to examine the surroundings. Two paintings on the wall are interactive, one of which serves as a map detailing all three shard locations.
Further investigation within this cave indicates the shard was taken to a soldier's camp, which will be marked on the player's map over 900 meters away in Tantari Woods, west of the Drunken Bear Inn. Upon reaching the camp, players should clear out the soldiers and use Focus Mode to locate the second sword shard within the rightmost tent, along with a letter from Xanthe. A prisoner within the camp can also be interacted with.
Sword Shard 3: Forge It Anew: Hostile Takeover
The final sword shard is located in the "Forge It Anew: Hostile Takeover" side quest, found in the northern part of the Rockfalls region, near Shrike's Crag. Players can fast-travel to the Giant's Pawns Shrine north of the rockfalls and proceed north and then west into a cave. This cave is inhabited by Kobolds, but they have been dispatched by a creature called Munch Munch, which players must defeat.
Inside, similar to the previous cave, there are paintings, one of which is a map of the shard locations. Looting the shrine within this cave will provide the third sword shard, consuming another three time segments. The quest notes that the blade is now whole but still lacks its hilt.
Reforging the Sword of St. Mihai
After collecting all three shards, players are prompted to find the Uriashi Blacksmith. She is located in the northeasternmost corner of the Briar Sloughs region, near the Uriashi Hermitage Shrine. Players can fast-travel to Stelian's Redoubt Shrine and proceed northwest.
When speaking to the Uriashi Blacksmith, players must select dialogue options such as "I heard about you," "I want to kill Brencis," and "I've found this silver blade shard…". If players have not yet acquired the broken sword of St. Mihai, the blacksmith will instruct them to return once it is found. Upon presenting the shards and the broken sword, the blacksmith will provide the Reforged Sword of St. Mihai.
Completing the Sword with a Ritual
To fully complete the sword, players must travel to a location marked on their map approximately 200 meters northwest of the Uriashi Hermitage. This leads to a cave entrance blocked by bloody vines, which must be destroyed. Inside, players will face a chamber filled with undead enemies.
At the cave's end, an altar awaits where a ritual must be performed. This ritual triggers a boss encounter with the Echoing Anger, who summons waves of undead creatures. After defeating the boss, completing the ritual requires three time segments and rewards players with the Imbued Sword of St. Mihai, a powerful weapon for challenging foes like Brencis and his boyars.
