The Blood of Dawnwalker offers players multiple opportunities for romance with its companion characters. Protagonist Coen can pursue relationships with Anca, a local witch; Crake, a rebel leader; and Lacra, a vrakhiri. Unlike some RPGs, The Blood of Dawnwalker does not require players to choose a single romantic partner, allowing for the pursuit of all three.

Romancing Anca

Anca, a witch in Laslea, is introduced early in The Blood of Dawnwalker's prologue. Players can begin flirting with her shortly after meeting. The path to romancing Anca primarily involves following her questline and making specific dialogue choices.

To initiate her romance, visit Anca on the outskirts of the village during the prologue and engage with her research. When presented with a choice of books, select the one with the red cover and insist on studying it for an early flirtation. Later, during the "Between the Words Brew" quest, offer to make Anca tea and select the "It's my pleasure" dialogue option. Following this, when asked about her feelings, choose "Always, what do you mean?" and then "Your feelings towards me - it's more than just faith" to confirm her interest.

The "Where Old Devils Lie" quest offers further opportunities to solidify the romance. At the quest's start, select "Thank you for trying to help me" and then "That's what you see me as - a friend?" for a second confirmation. When examining the map, choose "Who knows what else I have in store for you." Later, at the mountain pool, select "Something troubling you?" followed by "I care about you" to confess your feelings.

During the "Stronger Than Achilles" quest, the choice regarding "The Font" is important for Anca's personal arc. While romancing her is possible regardless of this choice, allowing Anca to use The Font results in a happier ending for her character and unlocks additional dialogue. The final step involves returning to the inn after "Stronger Than Achilles." When discussing your earlier confession, choose "I beg to differ" and then "Screw decency, I want you too." This leads to a kiss and a subsequent intimate scene.

Anca is presented as the most 'canonical' romance option, guaranteed to appear in the epilogue with significant screen time.

Romancing Crake

Crake, a mortal rebel leading the Manumits against the Vrakhiri Court, is a potential love interest who initially harbors trust issues due to his adversaries' supernatural powers. Winning his affection involves demonstrating loyalty and a willingness to oppose Brencis.

Begin by completing "The Firebrand" quest, which can be initiated by saving Vlad or investigating his house in Laslea if Vlad perishes. This quest leads into "Shadows in the Woods," where Coen first meets Crake. Subsequently, completing "Where Loyalty Lies" allows Coen to join the Manumit rebels.

The first intimate moment with Crake occurs during "What Hunts the Night" while hiding in a ruined house. After saving Crake from the Murohn in "What Moves the Dead," help him remove his armor and agree to patch him up. This leads to the crucial "Distant Shadows" quest.

During "Distant Shadows," Coen must follow an elder named Askar in Tantari. Intervene when soldiers harass Askar, then report back to Crake. In the "A Closer Look" quest, meet Crake outside the city after he becomes upset. When given the opportunity, choose "Hey. Nothing you say can change the way I see you." While Coen may initially back away from a kiss, the option to reciprocate is available, leading to an intimate scene.

Crake's appearance in the epilogue is contingent on completing the final quest, "Rise at Dawn," and following the Manumit questline to its conclusion. However, players will still receive information about his fate regardless of pursuing this specific ending.

Romancing Lacra

Lacra is the sole vrakhiri romance option. Despite her vampire nature, she opposes Dawnwalker's antagonist, Brencis, and finds common ground with Coen in their shared objective.

To begin pursuing Lacra, obtain the "A Friend Like This" quest. This can be done by defeating Ambrus in "The Gilded Gauntlet" and reading a note on his body, or by assisting Ocha in "The Heart Wants What It Wants," inquiring about potential allies, and completing "A Study in Crimson" with Vicho, who will then direct you to Lacra.

The "The Song of the Mountain" quest is also relevant. If Ocha was helped previously, this quest will grant access to the Uriashi enclave, preventing conflict with Lacra.

During "Hive and Seek," Lacra will break open a cave entrance. Select "Now you're just showing off" and then "Quite so" for flirtatious dialogue. The choices made regarding the Kobolds in this quest do not affect the romance.

In "Our Rotten Roots," choosing to view Lacra's memories against her warnings does not impact the romance but provides more backstory. Whether to invite Isbrand is a personal choice that does not affect the romance's outcome.

The key event for Lacra's romance occurs at the end of "The Night of Horrors." Players must eat the Mandrake flower, after which they can drink Lacra's blood, leading to a kiss and an intimate scene.

Lacra will appear in the epilogue as long as her questline is completed up to "The Midnight Reckoning" quest, even if her specific ending is not pursued.
