The Blood of Dawnwalker: 'The Ring' Quest Walkthrough

Completing "The Ring" quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker hinges on a critical decision: whether to return a family heirloom to Farkas. This quest begins automatically after players defeat Boyar Bakir during "The Lunar Game" quest.

Finding the Ring

The item of contention, an amethyst ring, can be found within a small box located in the northwest corner of the treasury. Players can use the Focus mode to easily spot its location. It is important to note that attempting to leave the treasury without interacting with Farkas about the ring will trigger a dialogue, locking the player into the quest.

If the ring has not yet been found, players can tell Farkas to search for it himself. However, this action will immediately fail "The Ring" quest, though the outcome remains the same as if the ring were given to Farkas. It is therefore advisable to select the "I'm still looking" dialogue option if the ring has not been obtained.

The Choice: Give or Keep the Ring

Once the ring is in possession, players face a choice. Inspecting the ring reveals both a purple gem and runic inscriptions, offering clues to its true nature. When confronted by Farkas, players can inquire about his motivations. He reveals that his younger brother, Dusan, suffered greatly due to Bakir's abuse, and Bakir had promised the ring as a cure. Farkas sought the ring to save his brother.

There are three primary paths forward:

  • Give Farkas the ring: This completes the quest, earning Farkas' gratitude. However, visiting Farkas' home later reveals a grim fate: the demonic ring possessed Farkas, leading him to murder his brother. This outcome is only discoverable during the daytime.
  • Refuse to give Farkas the ring: While Farkas is initially angry, this choice leads to a more favorable outcome for him and his brother. The quest continues, requiring the player to find an expert on arcane matters to examine the ring.
  • Murder Farkas: This option also continues the quest, still requiring an expert to examine the ring. However, it prevents any further interaction with Farkas and his brother and may occur unintentionally if the player's blood level is low at night.

Seeking Arcane Expertise

If the player decides to keep the ring, the next step involves seeking someone knowledgeable in the arcane. Three individuals can assist: Anca at the Crossroads Inn, the Sanzhani Tsarina in the Yawning Burrow, or the Uriashi Elder in Uriash Village. Each offers a unique reward in exchange for the ring, but this transaction consumes two time segments.

  • Anca: Provides a Quick Fighter's Ring (epic quality), enhancing human health and restoration while reducing swordmastery cooldown.
  • Uriashi Elder: Offers Vrakhir's Endurance (epic quality), a necklace that improves blood drinking restoration and damage reduction.
  • Sanzhani Tsarina: Also provides Vrakhir's Endurance.

Meeting the Uriashi Elder requires completing the "Song of the Mountain" quest, while the Sanzhani Tsarina requires the completion of the "Good Home" quest. Anca is the most accessible option, as no prior quests are necessary, provided she is alive.

Alternatively, players can choose to keep the ring without giving it to anyone.

Discovering Farkas' Fate

To understand what transpired with Farkas and his brother, players can visit their home in Parlita. If the ring was given to Farkas, interacting with the environment using Focus mode reveals a journal, a jester's hat, and a bloodied knife. These items can be used to compel the corpse in the bedroom, leading to the revelation of Farkas' possession by the demonic ring and his subsequent murder of Dusan.

If Farkas was refused the ring, a visit to his home reveals him in conversation with his brother, who remains ill but alive.
