ASRock has released a new gaming monitor, the Phantom Gaming PGO27QSA, that integrates several high-end features including a QD-OLED panel, a 240Hz refresh rate, and a 1440p resolution, all for $299. This price point positions it as one of the most affordable QD-OLED monitors available on the market.

The 27-inch monitor features a 2560 x 1440 resolution, resulting in a pixel density of 108 pixels per inch, which is intended to provide a clear and sharp image. While most modern mid-range graphics cards can handle 1440p resolution, achieving the monitor's maximum 240Hz refresh rate will require a powerful GPU. To mitigate potential performance dips, the monitor includes AMD's FreeSync Premium technology, which synchronizes the monitor's refresh rate with the GPU's output.

The display utilizes a Samsung QD-OLED panel, known for its deep black levels and vibrant colors. However, this specific panel is an older generation, indicated by a typical SDR brightness of 200 nits. This contrasts with the latest panels found in some premium monitors. Additionally, the absence of an RGB Stripe subpixel layout means users may notice some text fringing, though this is generally a minor concern for gaming performance.

The monitor comes in black and white color options and features an adjustable stand. Connectivity includes two HDMI 2.1 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4. ASRock also includes the necessary cables to support these specifications. The monitor does not feature a USB hub.
