KTC is offering two budget gaming monitors that cater to different player needs: the KTC 25M1, a 24.1-inch 1080p TN panel focused on high refresh rates, and the KTC M27T6S, a 27-inch 1440p IPS panel with mini-LED backlighting for enhanced HDR performance. Both are currently available at reduced prices on Amazon.
The KTC 25M1 is positioned as an ideal choice for competitive gamers, particularly those playing fast-paced titles like Counter-Strike or Valorant. It features a 400 Hz refresh rate and a claimed 0.5 ms response time, attributes crucial for esports enthusiasts. While its TN panel technology means it is not optimal for casual gaming due to limitations in color reproduction and viewing angles, its speed makes it a compelling option for its target audience. PC Gamer's Jacob reviewed the monitor, awarding it an 89% score and noting its strong value proposition for competitive gaming, stating that it's difficult to find a better refresh rate at this price point.
For those prioritizing visual fidelity and HDR capabilities over extreme refresh rates, the KTC M27T6S presents a different proposition. This 27-inch monitor boasts a 1440p resolution and an IPS panel with a mini-LED backlight. It offers a 200 Hz refresh rate, with an option to overclock to 210 Hz, and a 1 ms response time. PC Gamer's Jeremy found the KTC M27T6S to be a standout mini-LED monitor, especially considering its budget price. He highlighted the effectiveness of KTC's local dimming algorithm, which manages blooming and zone control better than many other monitors with similar technology, even if it doesn't entirely eliminate the inherent drawbacks of LCD local dimming.
While not matching OLED displays in terms of perfect black levels or the absolute precision of lighting, the KTC M27T6S delivers impressive brightness performance that Jeremy described as "on another planet." The monitor is available for $300 on Amazon, requiring users to select a $50 off coupon to achieve this price. This makes it a strong contender for users seeking a visually striking gaming experience without the premium cost typically associated with high-end HDR displays.
