Corsair has announced the official pricing for its TC80 gaming chair, a model that moves away from aggressive "gamer" aesthetics in favor of a more subdued design. The chair is set to launch at $200, which positions it as a more affordable option within the gaming chair market. This price point makes it $50 less expensive than the ThunderX3 Solo 360, a chair previously considered a strong budget contender.
Corsair highlights the durability and stability of the TC80, citing extensive testing procedures. These tests include subjecting the seat to a 136 kg weight and applying significant force to various parts of the chair multiple times. This rigorous testing, which Corsair describes as "abusing these chairs to make sure they're safe and long-lasting," aims to ensure the product's longevity.
The design of the TC80 features a flat, wide base and a less pronounced racer-style back and headrest, contributing to a look that could blend well into an office environment. However, the chair's recline functionality is limited to a range of 90 to 115 degrees, and the armrests do not appear to be adjustable. Despite these limitations, the $200 price is presented as a notable value, especially if the chair provides a comfortable experience. Corsair is also backing the TC80 with a two-year warranty, offering additional peace of mind to potential buyers. The TC80 continues Corsair's legacy, following in the footsteps of the TC100 Relaxed, which was a long-standing recommendation for a budget-friendly gaming chair.
