Framework, known for its customizable and repairable laptops, is bucking the trend of rising memory prices by retroactively reducing the cost of certain LPCAMM2 memory modules. The company has secured a limited quantity of Micron 32 GB and 64 GB LPCAMM2 modules at a lower cost, and is passing these savings onto customers.
This price adjustment affects both recently shipped orders and a subset of pending pre-orders. Framework explained in a blog post that they are committed to making their computers as accessible as possible. While the pricing for this new batch is still higher than the original launch baseline, it represents a decrease from the most recent cost update that influenced current pre-order prices.
For customers who have already received their Framework Laptop 13 Pro, the company is automatically refunding the price difference for affected orders. Those who had their laptop ship at the higher price will receive the adjustment. Furthermore, individuals who have already received their DIY Edition Framework 13 Pro can contact Framework to switch to a 32 GB or 64 GB memory module at the newly reduced price.
Framework has also made this lower-priced stock available on a first-come, first-serve basis to customers through Batch 10. The company indicated that if additional quantities are sourced or if there is remaining inventory, it will be opened to later batches and then to new pre-orders. This proactive approach to passing on cost savings is reminiscent of other industry practices aimed at customer retention and transparency, such as tariff refunds offered by other hardware companies.
