LG has introduced two new gaming monitors, the 27-inch LG UltraGear evo GM9 and the 39-inch LG UltraGear evo GX9, featuring an industry-first AI upscaling technology that brings content up to 5K resolution directly on the display. This feature is designed to benefit gamers by improving visual detail and clarity without requiring them to upgrade their existing PC hardware.

The 27-inch GM9 boasts a 5120x2880 5K resolution, offering over 14 million pixels for sharp text and intricate in-game details. It utilizes a Hyper Mini LED panel with 2,304 dimming zones and 9,216 LEDs, enabling a peak brightness of 1250 nits and HDR 1000 certification, while minimizing blooming. The monitor also supports a 1ms grey-to-grey response time and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) technologies like NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium. A notable feature is its Dual Mode, which can achieve a refresh rate of 165Hz at 5K resolution or switch to 330fps at 1440p by reducing the resolution. Connectivity for these features is provided by a DisplayPort 2.1 port with Ultra-High Bit Rate 20 (UHBR20) support.

For users seeking a more expansive visual experience, the 39-inch GX9 offers an ultrawide curved OLED display with a 5120x2160 (5K2K) resolution. This monitor delivers a 143ppi pixel density, a contrast ratio of 1.85M:1, a peak brightness of 1500 nits, and HDR True Black 500 certification. The OLED panel provides a rapid 0.03ms grey-to-grey response time. Like the GM9, the GX9 also includes a Dual Mode for adjustable frame rates and supports VRR technologies. It can refresh at 165Hz at its native 5K2K resolution or reach 330Hz at WFHD.

LG's AI upscaling technology processes game input from WFHD (2560x1080) or higher resolutions up to 5K on the monitor itself. This approach prevents the existing PC hardware from being placed under additional load, allowing gamers to potentially see enhanced visual fidelity without immediate hardware upgrades. The combination of high resolutions, fast refresh rates, and advanced panel technologies in these new monitors aims to provide increased immersion, faster reaction times, and improved visual precision for both gaming and productivity tasks.
