A successor to Logitech's G Pro X2 Superlight, the company's first gaming mouse with analogue click technology, may be arriving as soon as September. This information comes from an unnamed leaker cited by peripheral reviewer Jakeu, who shared details on their Discord server. The rumoured device is reportedly set to be revealed at Logitech G Play in September.

The leaker's notes indicate that the new iteration will "upgrade main-controller" and feature "further tweaks for HITS," while explicitly stating "No Hero 3," suggesting it will not incorporate a next-generation sensor. The G Pro X2 Superlight already utilizes the effective Hero 2 sensor, and the current implementation of HITS (Haptic Interactive Transfer System) is also considered satisfactory by some.

While the exclusion of a new sensor might be disappointing for some, the focus on controller upgrades and HITS refinements could offer tangible improvements. It is also possible that Logitech might address design aspects of the mouse, such as its front-heavy weighting, or make enhancements to secondary components like the side buttons. This approach aligns with Logitech's strategy of quickly bringing innovative technology to market, as seen with the initial release of the Superlight.

Logitech introduced its analogue click system earlier this year, combining haptics and induction to replicate the feel of a traditional mouse click while allowing for analogue input. This system triggers whenever the analogue click engages, a feature that was successfully implemented in the G Pro X2 Superlight.

Given that the original G Pro X2 Superlight featured advanced technology that could be quickly superseded, early adopters may find a new model arriving so soon to be a drawback. However, the rapid evolution of cutting-edge hardware often means that purchasers are acquiring bleeding-edge technology that may see rapid updates.
