Shipments of OLED panels for monitors have seen substantial growth, with a 26.1% increase in the past three months and a near 100% rise compared to the previous year, according to a report by analyst firm TrendForce. This surge is largely attributed to the increasing adoption of OLED technology within the gaming community and a notable decrease in prices, making these premium displays more accessible to consumers. The firm specifically highlighted strong adoption for 27-inch QHD monitors, which are currently the most popular size and resolution among the growing selection of OLED panels.

TrendForce's findings underscore the rapid integration of OLED technology into both the gaming and premium display markets. In the first quarter of the year, OLED panel shipments grew by 78% year-on-year, indicating a sustained upward trend that is projected to continue through 2026.

The market share for OLED monitor manufacturers sees Asus leading, followed by Samsung and MSI. Samsung's position saw a slight shift due to its withdrawal from the Chinese market, while MSI has made notable advancements. The availability of panels is also improving, with new brands entering the market. While Samsung and LG remain the primary manufacturers of OLED panels used in gaming monitors, even when rebranded, recent developments include Chinese manufacturer TCL supplying panels for MSI's professional lineup.

OLED monitors are becoming increasingly affordable for PC gamers as the technology matures and new products enter the market. Prices that once ranged from $600 to $1,000 for many OLED gaming monitors have now become significantly lower. For instance, the Alienware AW2726DM, a 27-inch 1440p OLED monitor, has a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $350. Although it utilizes slightly older panel technology compared to the top-tier MSI MPG 322UR X24, the visual quality of OLED remains a significant draw.

Monitors are currently cited as one of the few remaining areas offering good value in the PC gaming market, unaffected by wider component shortages. Prices continue to decline, technology is rapidly evolving, and deals on OLED monitors are becoming more common. Retailers have featured sales on popular 27-inch, 1440p OLED models like the Samsung Odyssey G50SF and AOC Agon Pro for $350. Even 4K-capable monitors, such as the MSI MAG 321UP, have seen price drops, available for $700. This competitive landscape, characterized by high demand, sufficient supply, and robust competition, offers a beneficial market for consumers.
