Phanteks' Evolv X2 PC case, lauded for its distinctive design, is currently available at its lowest price ever. Newegg is offering the chassis for $110 after rebate, a significant reduction from its original launch price of $180 and its typical $160 retail cost on platforms like Amazon.
The Evolv X2 is described as one of the most visually impressive PC cases the reviewer has built in, with its aesthetic being a standout feature. The case boasts a unique wrapped glass effect and a monolithic vertical chimney design, contributing to a striking appearance that remains memorable long after a build is complete. A light bar integrated along the back edge and roof further enhances its clean and modern look.
Despite its visual appeal, the build experience presents certain challenges. Cable management is noted as a significant hurdle, largely due to the limited space in the rear for routing cables, exacerbated by the case's design. To achieve optimal results, users may need to remove the bottom storage caddy and opt for a shorter power supply unit. One reviewer even reported breaking a velcro strap during their initial build due to these constraints.
Cooling, while intelligently designed with Phanteks' focus on chimney-style thermal convection, also has limitations. The case accommodates a 360mm AIO in the roof and three 120mm intake fans on the floor, with no further options for additional cooling. The recessed AIO cavity in the roof is a notable design element, allowing for flush mounting of the AIO and fans while maintaining ample ventilation.
Positives, however, are numerous. Beyond its striking visual design, the Evolv X2 offers the option of a premium PCIe 5.0 compatible vertical bracket, which angles and pivots the GPU at a 45-degree tilt. This elevates the visual presentation of components, contributing to a build that is both functional and exceptionally attractive. The case's performance is also considered strong, delivering a visually stunning finished product that is well-suited for showcasing high-end components. For those prepared to navigate its building intricacies, the Phanteks Evolv X2 presents an opportunity to create a truly unique and eye-catching system, especially at its current discounted price point.
