A Reddit user known as Zestyclose-Salad-290 has dedicated four months to constructing a unique PC build designed to resemble a Turkish kebab rotisserie, complete with spinning components. The creation, showcased on the r/pcmasterrace subreddit, integrates a vertical rotisserie mechanism within a glass PC case.
The central pole of the build is adorned with an RGB strip and illuminates the internal hardware, which includes a spinning fan, GPU, motherboard, and PSU. Additional fans at the top and bottom of the case manage thermal performance. The user detailed the build process and methodology on the PC building website builds.gg.
This distinctive PC is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 5 3600X processor, 16GB of DDR4 memory, an MSI RTX 3070 Super graphics card, and 1TB of SSD storage. Notably, the custom case itself represented the most significant expense, costing approximately $1,000.
Construction of the kebab PC took an estimated four months, with the creator only confirming its functionality by the third month. The key to enabling the rotation without twisting cables lies in the use of slip rings, a component typically found in machinery that requires continuous rotation for power transmission. Zestyclose-Salad-290 explained that slip rings are utilized in various applications, from ceiling fans to MRI machines and wind turbines.
The user acknowledged the impracticality of the design, stating that placing the majority of the electronics within the rotating chamber was a deliberate choice for aesthetic appeal rather than efficiency. The PC includes a front-mounted switch allowing users to control the motor speed, offering slow motion, regular, and maximum speed settings.
